Autumnal happenings

Feeling all groggy and ill, so have broken out the sunny yellow scarf.
I've been geeting into the autumnal spirit with baking and knitwear and INTERVIEWING LITTLE COMETS, just about my favourite band of the moment (have a look here, please)

Staying at home, listening to the radio and reading Brighton Rock to prepare for my trip to Brighton next week.

Polka

Some charity shop finds (dress and jumper)
Standard tan accessories, don't tell Mary Portas, she's not the biggest fan of matching shoes and bags

And breathe...

Could really do with a weekend to recover from the most hectic weekend in history. Bombay Bicycle Club were off the scale beautiful. 2nd row baby. Bubble burst when I found out the guy stood infront wasn't Jack Steadman's brother.

Also spent the weekend hypothetically bringing about world peace at a Model United Nations conference. May or may not have met Dr. Who.
Saturday night involved town, my friends' band and a whole lot of lolz. Sore head for more resolving of global conflict.

Assorted outfits. Clothes from the usual suspects. Laziness, Downton Abbey and University Challenge calls (11.5 questions right last week)

Getting your fix

coat:H&M, socks:Topshop, loafers:H! Henry Holland, brooch:vintage, watch: UO
Mentally preparing for a jam-packed weekend. Off to Manchester Apollo to see Bombay Bicyle Club tomorrow, currently bingeing on their album 'Another Kind Of Fix'. Then on Saturday, going to a Model United Nations conference - that's a mini UN, not a UN for models - (juggling rock and roll and global politics all in a day's work) so I'm Googling Turkish policies so thoroughly that their national security might think I'm ploting something. Then back into Manchester to go to see a friend's band.
Decided not to fork out on the two faced watch, and instead opted for this owly affair. Loving the NUS discount applied on watch and socks. The conkers were a gift to ward off spiders, apparently.

Sunshine and Peri-Peri Chicken

shoes:Office, skirt:New Look, belt top:charity shop, glasses:Edinburgh market
Despite the frankly disturbingly sunny weather, this was a quick snap from inside my distinctly studenty looking room with the misleading exercise ball.
I'm not sure what the standard dressing procedure for a trip to Nando's is... but this seemed to be apt. Also, no news on the job front, maybe it was my insanely loud ticking watch that put them off, so I'm on the lookout for a quieter watch today. Perhaps this UO one?

Two faced bitch.

Ghost Town?

Some snaps from my Sunday vintage market escapades.
This monthly beauty has just started practically on my doorstep in Altrincham, part of the campaign to get it off the 'Ghost Town' list.
Also, my NUS Extra Student Discount card arrived today. Greetings. Roll on shopping spree...

How to (Maybe) Get a Job, and Other Academia

A medley of snaps from Oxford, some postcards I bought there and the authentic OED I picked up, being a classic tourist (the expression on the girl's face in Waterstone's, not impressed) Thoughts on a word of the day feature?
Also, I'm embarrassingly excited about Stephen Fry's new documentary on language 'Planet Word'.

loafers:Next, skirt blouse blazer:New Look, glasses:Specsaver
In other news, I had a job interview at a garden centre today. I don't know whether I got the job or not. Depending on the result, this may or may not be a suitable outfit. The glasses are supposed to connote intelligence and the watch is supposed to hint at punctuality.
Mr. Deputy Manager, you have been subliminally manipulated.

Cloudbusting

jumper:charity shop, bag:vintage, dress:Miss Selfridge, shoes:Office, coat:H&M, hat:River Island
The weather is being distinctly hormonal at the moment, hence my optimistically coloured blue sky and white cloud themed outfit, the indoors location and the coat that doesn't look half as good on me as on the girl in the advert.

Edinburgh LOL-fest

A medley of pictures from my trip to Edinburgh this year to see some comedy at the Fringe Festival and a few of the sights - living out the 'One Day' dream...
jumper:Miss Selfridge, skirt:H&M, sandals:Next
And a random outfit post floating around in the abyss that is my harddrive, from a sunny day in Bury (oxymoron, non?)

Greenfingers

ring trousers:H&M, boots blouse:charity shops
Showing off some charity shop finds, and maximising the sunshine here. Found these brand new boot beauties (boot-ies?) and collared blouse for a grand total of £17.15. Ring and burgundy cord trews from my current favourite haunt of H&M.
Had a brilliant time in Oxford, it makes Manchester look crap (I still love its crappiness). I found some loveley postcards in an extremely high-end charity shop, and bought a genuine Oxford English Dictionary (oh, and the Uni's good too). Pictures to follow.
Embracing the outdoors in these pictures because I have a job interview at a garden centre tomorrow, shame I struggle with interacting with other human beings...

Starter For 10, etc.

skirt  bag:vintage, top:charity shop, belt:Warehouse, loafers:Next hat:River Island, sunglasses:Edinburgh market, watch: Swatch
Potentially tommorow's outfit. This sort of preparation is mildly out of character, but I have to get up at a stupidly early hour tomorrow to go to visit Oxford University (!) Which I'm embarrassingly excited for. Minus the hat, and possibly add some tweed and elbow patches to conform to as many universital stereotypes as possible - should probably break out the Che Guvara and The Cure merchandise too. Hoping to pick up an authentic Oxford English Dictionary whilst I'm there, oh how the hours on the coach will fly by...

Lancaster Gallivants

A selection of snaps from my recent escapades in Lancaster and Morecambe.
I wish there was a band called The Bashfull Alleys.
In other news, outfit posts to follow if I ever manage to figure out the self-timer setting.

Hello World

Picture from/of Oh Comely magazine
Buy it, read it, weep with joy.
Re-pulp it and use resulting papyrus to write endless tibutes to its wonderment.
